The best tips

Within a 50km radius you are offered countless destinations for day-trips. We have listed particularly interesting destinations for you. Many of these tips are a good alternative on days with bad weather.

Regional museum Fügen

A fascinating time journey back to rural, ancient customs and traditions. On the traces of the Ziller valley's past, you will be introduced to tools, the farmers used for work in the forest and on the land besides old professions, including  cartwright, barrel-maker, hatter, ropemaker, house miller and much more.

Feuer Werk – The World of Wood in Fügen

Experience wood with all senses at one of the most modern and economical biomass-power plant within Europe. In addition to the wood experience, the SichtBAR impresses with its sensational panoramic view.

Demonstration cheese dairy Fügen

At the demonstration cheese dairy of the Ziller valley Heumilch Sennerei  (Alpine Hay-milk dairy) you can witness the production of the unique Schnittkäse (semi-hard cheese), the Hochfügener Almkäse , the Fügener Emmentaler and of the Graukäse (grey cheese). The adjacent museum displays an overview of cheese production, as it was a hundred years ago. It is impressive to see how simple the tools and facilities were, realising what was made with them.....

Erlebnistherme Zillertal

This feel good water world in Fügen offers fun and relaxation. It comprises a wellness and relaxation department, an outdoor pool and with its 133 m long water chute it does not only have a very spectacular, but also the longest water chute within the western part of Austria.

The Zillertalbahn

It steams, it hisses. Sie dampft, sie faucht. Pulled by a steam locomotove a ride with the Zillertalbahn has a slightly nostalgic feel. Let yourself be enchanted and enjoy the feeling, our ancestors must have had while travelling.

Farm museum in Kramsach

Discover farming culture and what life was like in the old days. Here you will be provided an insight into farm life in the mountains many years ago. Tools and kitchen tools are on display as well.

The charming medieval flair of the smallest town in Austria should not be missed.   Tours of the city, guided tours, events - the small glass blower town has a wide range of entertaining items to offer. The Rattenberg Advent is a special tip; it is a tranquil, traditional Advent market, far away from any pre-Christmas stress.

Crystal worlds Museum

Interactive ice alley, visionary crystal projectiosn and spherical music - under the motto „The Art of Crystal Fiction“ the Crystal Worlds museum in Wattens created an international stir. The crystal wonder rooms should definitely not be missed.

State capital Innsbruck

The Gothic old city has one of Austria's most beautiful best preserved medieval city centres. The Golden Roof, Hofburg, Hofkirche - the list with places of interest is long.  The Ambras castle, above Inssbruck has a significant cultural-historical impact. Visitors, who wish to go for a stroll and/or on a shopping spree should not miss the old city centre with its many shops and recommendable restaurants.

Arena Coaster

You can look foward to fun, action and speed in the Arena Coaster, the  first Alpine roller coaster in the Ziller valley! The Zillertal Arena has lots more to offer, though. Entertainment for the whole family is guaranteed

Spannagel cave by the Hintertux glacier

Underneath the Spannagel house by the Hintertux glacier is where you will find the entry point to an underground adventure. Being 10 km long, the Spannagel cave is Tyrol's most important cave. It offers an impressing insight into the high alpine carstification of the glacier regions.

Lake Achen's shipping company Achensee-Schifffahrt and Lake Achen railway

Chugging and hissing, it manages to find its way up the mountain. Only 10 minutes away from Hotel Schiestl, in Jenbach to be precise, is where you will find the starting point of Europe's oldest rack railway. The Lake Achen train can deel with 440 m difference in altitude spread out over nearly 7 kilometers. Once it has reached the top, the adventurous panorama journey continues on a steamboat of shipping company Achensee-Schifffahrt.
